Dan Rather Is a Liar

...and CBS News is even worse...

I don't know how to permalink the story currently on ABC's "Noted Now," so I will print the related excerpt:

HODGES SAID HE WAS MISLED BY CBS: Retired Maj. General Hodges, Killian's supervisor at the Grd, tells ABC News that he feels CBS misled him about the documents they uncovered. According to Hodges, CBS told him the documents were "handwritten" and after CBS read him excerpts he said, "well if he wrote them that's what he felt."

Hodges also said he did not see the documents in the 70's and he cannot authenticate the documents or the contents. His personal belief is that the documents have been "computer generated" and are a "fraud".

(Emphasis added.)

Their handwriting expert? Well...it turns out that he calls himself a liar...

And per Gary Killian's interview with Sean Hannity: CBS had spoken with him and his stepmother before airing the story. Both of them had said there were no personal files, that they didn't believe the memos were legitimate, that Lt. Col. Killian in fact thought very highly of (then) Lt. Bush, and gave them names of people to contact who could back up their story. CBS spiked their stories...

So much for Dan Rather's credibility...I hope sacrificing every shred he had of it left only to watch John Kerry go down in defeat in November anyway will be worth it for him...This will be what Dan Rather is remembered for...Long career as anchor? No...Fraud and Partisan Hack? Yes...

As for CBS? The Head of the News Division should be sacked over this, and heads should keep rolling until they reach the bottom...There's no excuse for trying to perpetrate a fraud like this...This wasn't an honest mistake: they had the truth in their hands, they knew it, they ran with the story anyway even though they knew it was false...
